    Here at Bridlington Lodge we have an extremely dedicated, compassionate and highly motivated team of staff caring for our residents, some of whom are living with dementia. We require a Senior Night Carer to compliment our existing team.

    Responsibilities:

    To build strong and meaningful relationships with the residents and assist them with their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to help them maintain and improve, where possible, their independence, individuality and mobility.

    Assistance with ADLs includes, but is not limited to:

    Bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, participating in meaningful and purposeful daily activities, empowering resident choice, desire and preference where possible. Serve as the Key Worker for a small number of residents within the home. Establishing a very detailed and focused relationship with the residents and their family members/friends/other key visitors/other staff members, so as to serve as a point of contact and reference for all parties involved. Key workers should be able to coach other staff members on the specific preferences and routines that a resident may have and should also contribute to the resident’s regularly scheduled care plan reviews. Help host our residents and their visitors. To provide beverages for the residents and their visitors. To answer the telephone and either forward calls or take messages in a capable and professional manner. To attend training and educational sessions as required. This will ensure your skill set is up to date and that your confidence remains high while delivering care to the residents.

    Requirements:

    • Capacity to communicate both verbally and in writing
    • Positive attitude, passion and willingness to develop skills within Care Assistant role
    • NVQ in Social Care, ideally NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
    • Flexibility to work shift patterns

    • To put the resident needs first and to assist them with the greatest respect and  compassion possible

    The successful applicants will lead and be responsible for a team of staff, to deliver services of high quality and that are individually planned. They will be responsible for the supervision of a staff team and manage the services they deliver.     • In consultation with the Registered Manager co-ordinate a high standard of care and support that is planned to meet the  individual’s needs to include their physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs. This care is to be reviewed regularly and  changes made, as identified as appropriate, in consultation with the Service User.

    Full Job Details:

    DIRECT CARE

    • To participate in the planning and implementation of individual care, to meet the perceived needs of each Service User.
    • To deliver flexible support to people using services, in accordance with their plan of care and support, ensuring the service is led by  the User.
    • To participate in the review of each person’s service, to ensure it remains appropriate to meeting their needs.
    • To undertake Risk Assessment of employees working environment and practises, working within Health & Safety Legislation.
    • To monitor staff in the delivery of services and feedback to the Registered Manager, to ensure high standards of service are    maintained within purchased resources.
    • To maintain discipline of the staff in a professional manner at all times.
    • To be familiar with employment law (we have our own employment and /H&R H&S Advisors).
    • In consultation with the Registered Manager participate in the implementation of company policy and safeguarding legislation,  informing other professionals, as appropriate, in accordance with local authority Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and Mental  Capacity/DOLS procedures, reviewing the status of each referral on a regular basis.
    • To co-operate and participate in authorised inspection procedures of the company.
    • To lead by example and provide hands on care/support within the home.

    LINE MANAGEMENT

    • To assist in effective line management support and supervision of the staff team.
    • To be responsible for the appraisal of a delegated staff team.
    • To delegate tasks and responsibilities to other staff members effectively and with regard to their status and competence.
    • To offer mentoring support to new staff, working to achieve their industry standard qualifications.
    • To participate, as required, in disciplinary/grievance procedures, at agreed levels, in consultation with the Registered Manager and  our Company H.R. Advisors.

    PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • To be aware of and promote and practise the requirements of relevant legislation.
    • In the absence of the Registered Manager assume responsibility for the provision of services and line management of staff under  the direction of the Manager.
    • To complete written records competently, as required.
    • Under the supervision of the Registered Manager be responsible for auditing the return and quality of company records and  assume responsibility for the storage and archiving of these documents.
    • To participate in a staff working rota authorised by the Registered Care Manager, including weekend and unsociable hours and to provide on call services on a rota basis, on a maximum frequency of one week in every four.
    • To attend and participate in team management and professional meetings, ensuring that the outcomes agreed are implemented  and monitored.
    • To respect and practise professional confidentiality.
    • To represent the company in a professional manner.

    POLICY DEVELOPMENT

    • To monitor and review the effectiveness of new and existing policy and address issues identified from the complaints and  compliments policy.
